Continuing my review of Rimmel’s new Show Off Lip Lacquers (around $5.50 at Walgreens and at Drugstore.com), these shades are Luna, Aurora and Stellar. They’re all on the bright side, but the colors range from a bright peach to two reds.
See my earlier review of the Show Off Lip Lacquers for full details. This is a fantastic line, especially for the price – intense color, long wear, beautiful finishes. Even though some of these are super bright, they may be more flattering than you think. I have light/fair skin and was surprised any of these worked for me at all. So surprised I fell in love and bought nine of ’em.
Luna is a bright, light peach with a cream finish. It looks like a bright light orange in the tube, but came off a little paler on the lips than I expected. This is the one shade I have a bit of an issue with: it keeps sliding around when I apply it. It took me a good minute or so to get it applied evenly for this photo. I had to use my fingers to pat it into place. I’m not sure why that is – it’s a slightly different consistency from the others. That said, it doesn’t stop me from wearing it. It’s rare to find a peach that’s lighter than my nude lips and have it actually fully cover them. It’s a little bit bright, but like the rest of these, there’s something about the finish and shine that makes the brightness work better than you might expect.
Aurora is a medium brick red with a cream finish. This is the sort of red that often works on people who think they can’t wear reds at all. It’s more bold than bright so it’s more forgiving of whatever skin tone is around it. There’s a certain softness to the color, too.
Stellar is a very bright coral red with a cream finish. There are definite pink and orange undertones. This is one of the more challenging colors to wear from this line because it’s every bit as bright as it looks in the tube. Reds this bright don’t always look good on me, but this one worked surprisingly well.
