Continuing my review of Rimmel’s new Show Off Lip Lacquers (around $5.50 at Walgreens and at Drugstore.com), these shades are Celestial, Solstice and Nova. I grouped them together because they’re all in the pink/rose family.
You can read more about how much and why I love these in my review of Stargazer, Nude Eclipse and Light Year from this line. To sum up, these go on lightly, have intense color, wear well, don’t feather… in short, there’s so much right and nothing wrong with them in my humble opinion. Think of these like lipsticks even though they apply like a gloss – there is no sheering these out.
Celestial is a medium rosy pink cream finish with enough of a brown base to keep it flattering on many skin tones. It’s highly opaque and covered my pigmented lips completely.
Solstice is a plummy rose with brown undertones and very fine shimmer. This is very much a “my lips but a little darker” kind of color, so it should look great on quite a lot of people. The shimmer gives it almost a soft metallic look that makes lips look plump and beautiful.
Nova is a bright medium pink with blue undertones. As bright as this color is, it’s surprisingly flattering on lips. Definitely bold, but not as “OH HAI THERE LIPS” as colors like this can be. That’s because of the cream finish, which has just enough light-catching shine to grab attention away from the color. The only thing is, that shine fades after a couple of hours and it turns matte.
