NYX’s Pinched powder blush is a peachy pink with a lot of fine gold shimmer, and yes, the shimmer is visible on cheeks. In fact, I usually don’t highlight when I wear this one because it kind of does both jobs for me.
I get amazing wear time with this blush, especially for something at this price point. My average is around 6 hours, and that includes much pricier blushes you might expect to do better. Pinched gives me a good 8-10 hours with only minimal fading (not enough to bother with a touch-up) around the 9 hour mark. The texture is what I call “velvety” – not powdery or chalky, but not creamy either.
Pinched is highly pigmented, enough so that the red in my cheeks doesn’t influence the color as it does with sheerer blushes. The color payoff is not as intense as it could be, but with blushes I actually prefer that. It’s not easy to work with blushes that go on like a stripe of bold color – if you’re on the light side, you have to barely dust them on with a feather brush and it can still be tough to avoid looking like a clown. Pinched will build to whatever level of intensity you want – it can look just like it does in the pan, even. So I personally like this, but your mileage may vary.
NYX’s Pinched is a fairly neutral color – just a little bit warm – so it can work on quite a lot of skin tones. It’s said to be a dupe for Nars’ Orgasm, and it is really close – probably close enough for many of us. I can tell you however that Pinched has a little less shimmer than Orgasm, which might make it more or less interesting to you.
