NYX’s Round Lipstick in Femme (around $4 at Ulta) is a bright coral with a semi-matte finish. I really can’t make the color description more complicated than that – it’s equal parts orange and pink, leaning toward red, which is exactly what coral should be.
Femme is one of the best NYX Round Lipsticks. The Round formula tends to be a little too creamy, with a lot of slip that sometimes isn’t a good thing. Femme gets the right balance. It’s very. pigmented, applying opaque in one swipe, and the very creamy finish dries down a little after a minute or two, leaving you with a finish that’s “set.” Because of this, it doesn’t settle into lines or move around on your lips like some of the other Rounds.
You’ve probably already figured it out by now, but this color is really warm and really bright. It’s definitely not going to work on everybody. But coral is one of the more universal brights. It’s the kind of color that actually can be worn by a lot of the people who assume there’s no way they could ever wear it. And if you’ve ever wanted to test this with an affordable yet true-to-color lipstick, Femme is just right.
I typically get 2-3 hours wear from Femme, which is lower than my average for a lipstick. It’s slightly hydrating. I’ve never had trouble with feathering, but then I usually don’t.
The Round lipsticks have a scent I can’t quite describe, but it’s kind of chemical or medicinal – it reminds me of soap. The scent does tend to stick around. If it bothers you, as it does me, it can make it hard to enjoy these lipsticks. I do find that once you’ve had the tubes a while the scent fades.
