Central Park Plums (around $3 at Drugstore.com or local drugstores) is another somewhat neutral palette from NYC’s new HD eyeshadow line. This one is – you guessed it – plummy in color.
Like the others I’ve reviewed from this collection, Central Park Plums does not fall down on its claims of high pigment and long wear. The quality of these shadows is very high, especially at such a low price point. The color is dense, blending is a breeze and the texture is velvety. Once again, they’ve chosen their color combination well – the mix of plum, pink and taupe keeps the whole palette a little on the cool side, but not enough to clash with most warm skin tones. And you can actually get a few different looks from this palette: you can wear it as I did for the photos below, or because the deep plum color doesn’t have a strong red undertone, you can also apply it on the lower half of the lid blended into the taupe to create a smoky effect.
Color 1 is a pale pink shimmer, almost but not quite frosty. Color 2 is a light taupe shimmer. Color 3 is a deep plum satin finish that has enough brown undertones to avoid making it look like I’ve been crying.
