MakeupGeek’s eyeshadows ($5.99 for refill style, $6.99 for single compacts. 1.8 grams either way) in Last Dance, Purple Rain and Twilight are three more colors from my Makeup Geek collection. As you can see from looking at them, I’ve used them more than a couple of times.
As I’ve said in an earlier review of three other Makeup Geek Shadows, the formula is highly pigmented, smooth and buttery, and you can wear them wet or dry. I also mentioned that while the line is overall fantastic, some shades are better than others. In this batch, you’ll meet one of the shades that’s a little bit dry and stiff compared to the others, and yet still quite good compared to all other eyeshadows in general.
- Twilight is described on Makeup Geek’s site as “Pale Shimmery Muted Purple”. It’s almost like purple heavily overlaid with taupe. It plays well with all sorts of color combinations because it’s neutral, neither warm nor cool.
- Last Dance is a satin finish medium plummy brown. It looks less red in reality than it does in the above photos (my camera makes things redder; I’m still trying to figure out how to fix that).
- Purple Rain is a matte purple with undertones that are slightly more blue than red. This is the one that’s a tad dry and stiff compared to the others. Sometimes I have to apply a little more because it can go on a bit patchy. But otherwise, it works well and that makes it still overall a very good shadow in my opinion!
That’s Twilight on the lid, Purple Rain in the corner and Last Dance in the crease.
