(Sorry I’m a bit late with this – I’ve had a really bad cold, plus something else going on which you can read about at my Twitter.)
For spring, Cover Girl has put out a new line of glossy balms that look like all those chubby sticks everyone’s coming out with. These truly are balms – they don’t give you a lot of color, just a hint of it with a lot of gloss. I bought two and will be reviewing them as I slowly get back into the swing of things.
They’re also trying their hand at a BB cream and another gloss balm that’s purporting to be “natural.” I didn’t buy either of these. The whole BB cream craze has gotten so far away from what BB creams are supposed to be – basically, they’re just tinted moisturizers. And I can’t wear tinted moisturizers because I need more coverage, so I’m not the best person to review them. As for these gloss balms… “natural” is very open to interpretation. What this line means by it is “we put in some shea butter and stuff like that”, but the propylene glycol is still there, too. Not that I avoid propylene glycol myself, but I feel like it’s a little misleading the way corporations use “natural” and feel bad for those who are trying to avoid certain ingredients.
And finally, they’ve got a new line of Outlast nail polishes which are supposed to be high gloss colors that last without a top coat. I didn’t buy any, but I may in the future – it would be interesting to see how that works.
