Buxom Big & Healthy Lip Polish in Dolly is a warm, plummy rose with very fine gold shimmer. The Buxom line of lip products is supposed to plump lips, and it does a little, the same way your lips are a little fuller when they’re more hydrated. It’s not unnatural looking – in fact, I don’t want my lips plumped at all, thank you very much, but the effect with these is subtle enough that I’ll still wear them. They create a cool tingling sensation on the lips which I don’t personally love, especially if it’s cold! But it’s a sensation many people I’ve talked to really enjoy. The scent is a sort of buttermint that’s pleasant and doesn’t linger.
Aside from plumping, how else does Dolly perform? It’s a comfortable formula – not sticky or thick. And yet it wears a very long time and feels hydrating throughout. The shimmer is visible, but much too fine to be felt as grit on the lips. It’s a fairly opaque gloss, and one sweep of the applicator applies a full dose of color so you don’t need to build it up. It doesn’t move around on the lips like a creamier formula would, and it also doesn’t settle into lines. The doefoot applicator is slanted to fit the contours of your lip, and it’s quite comfortable and easy to use.
Dolly is a color that will suit many skin tones because it’s barely warm, almost neutral, and not very dark. The formula is very comfortable and long wearing, as long as you’re not bothered by the tingling or the very slight plumping.
