I reviewed Bumble & Bumble’s Gentle Shampoo yesterday, which first came to me as a sample from Sephora, along with Bumble’s Super Rich Conditioner ($25 for 8 oz., Sephora). I’ve been using these two in combination for nearly 6 months now, giving them plenty of time to show their true colors before I review them. And now, the review.Super Rich Conditioner is a thick, white conditioner. It’s got a nice amount of slip, making it easy to coat your hair as thinly or thickly as you prefer. The instructions just say to put it on and then rinse it, but I think that’s common with conditioners anymore because they realize the application technique that works for one person is not what works for someone else. I have thick, curly hair, and what works for me (with any conditioner) is to put it on, then comb it with a wide tooth comb, then again with a fine tooth comb. That takes a couple of minutes (during which the conditioner’s been sitting on my hair), and by that time it’s thoroughly worked into every strand. Then I rinse with warm/hot water, and then again with cold water (that cold blast helps tame frizz).
This conditioner tames my frizz without weighing my hair down. My hair still has plenty of bounce, and yet the strands aren’t urgently trying to separate into a fuzz ball like they usually do. I’ve already repurchased this one, and will update the review if at some point it stops working for me, but so far it’s my conditioner of choice!
The scent is light and refreshing with cucumber among other notes. It doesn’t linger on the hair enough to clash with any fragrance you’re wearing – you can smell it if you get really close to the hair, but the scent doesn’t float around your head like a cloud.
