Bobbi Brown’s High Shimmer lipglosses are just what they sound like. “Hot” ($23, Sephora) is presumably named for hot pink. It’s a medium pink with blue undertones and – you guessed it – lots and lots of shimmer, which is a metallic blue-white.
This shade is highly pigmented for a shimmer gloss. While the color of your lips shows through enough to make it slightly different from one person to the next, it does definitely add some color as well as sparkle.
The formula is really something on this. It wears for hours, much longer than most glosses. I don’t find it sticky although it’s hard to say whether someone very annoyed by stickiness would like it. You don’t feel the glitter at all – not while applying, nor at any point during wearing. Not even when you smush your lips together.
Because of the formula’s translucence, it will work on a decent variety of skin tones. The blue undertones aren’t strong enough to keep it from looking rosy on warmer complexions (my undertones are just barely warm). The applicator is also good: it’s a doe foot with a slant on one side, which makes it easy to use the whole applicator when applying on a broader part of the lip or just the tip of it in the narrow areas.
This is a terrific gloss, with incredible staying power and a really awesome look. I can’t believe how shimmery these are without any feeling of grittiness from the glitter.
