I didn’t see Beautiful Creatures, but when I saw Pur Minerals’ limited edition tie-in for it – an eyeshadow palette with a lip gloss and an eyeliner pencil (Ulta, $39) – I thought it looked, well, beautiful. It’s a collection of brown, purple and green eyeshadows with shimmer and matte finishes, in a cardboard box with a brush and magnetic closure.

Bobbi Brown’s Extra Repair SPD 25 Foundation ($58 for 1 oz. at Sephora, Nordstrom, Macy’s) is a rich, medium to full coverage foundation that’s intended to be moisturizing and help repair skin. (Sephora says it will “undo” signs of aging, which no product can actually do, but the Bobbi Brown website makes the more sensible claim that “Over time, it also helps replenish & strengthen skin.”) I actually finished a full pot of it, and will discuss that skin repair claim as well as how the foundation works generally.

A few months ago, Sephora was giving out samples of Bumble & Bumble Gentle Shampoo ($24 for 8 oz., Sephora) and Super Rich Conditioner. The products I’d been using were starting to dry my hair out – something that sometimes happens to me after a few months with a product – so I decided to try them. I was impressed enough by the samples to go back and purchase the 8 ounce bottles. And I was impressed enough by those to repurchase them.
